«I wouldn’t support any of my children if I didn’t have confidence that they possess the talent to offer something to the audience,» he declared.

When asking the audience to applaud his eldest son, the singer simply referred to him as «Alex,» implying that no further introduction was needed.

However, it might have been the young man himself who completed the introduction, as one can only hear another voice saying, «Fernández.»
«There’s no way Aguilar, pend***,» he replied, pausing briefly before adding, «That would worry me a lot.»
Whether it was a poorly-conceived joke or a slip of the tongue, the words likely angered Pepe Aguilar.
He appeared quite perturbed Alejandro Fernández’s remarks.

Though this might be the first major controversy involving Álex, Pepe’s daughter, Ángela, has been the subject of numerous online uproars.
Some suggest that because of her, Pepe’s shows aren’t successful, or that she’s ignored by fans at her own concerts.
Pepe Aguilar hasn’t publicly commented on Alejandro Fernández’s remarks.

«Don’t be mad at the pend***. They aren’t malicious; they’re just pend***,» began Pepe Aguilar.
«Inhale, exhale, and think: Poor guy, he’s clueless,» he shared on social media.
In a 2019 segment on Sale el Sol there seemed to be a battle of egos between Fernández and Aguilar.
«Pepe once told me he felt overshadowed because he believed he didn’t have the physique that others had,» journalist Juan Carlos Cuéllar revealed.
Is there rivalry between the two singers?
Other members of Jaripeo Sin Fronteras have not made any statements on the matter.
Being the descendants of two regional Mexican legends, Vicente Fernández and Antonio Aguilar, both men have supported their children’s desire to continue their musical legacies.
Pepe Aguilar has earned four Grammy Awards and received seven nominations, in addition to winning four Latin Grammys and 17 nominations.
In contrast, Alejandro Fernández has garnered three Latin Grammys and 10 nominations, and has also received four Grammy nominations.

Fans of both families have taken to social media to defend their favorite star, but there hasn’t been a major confrontation.
«Personally, I believe that the talent on both sides is unquestionable,» one person commented.
